What you need to know about Initiative 122

NoCo HBA Members:

Over the weekend we encountered petition signature gatherers in Loveland, which made me realize we really need to spread the word on Initiative 122. This will have a drastic impact on everyone's business if this goes to ballot and gets passed.  Please read the information below and pass the word to as many people as you can, asking them to keep spreading the word.  This is incredibly important; it could effectively shut down our businesses come January.  If we are unable to get permits (with this will do), we'll be unable to build and won't need subs, suppliers, etc. NoCo HBA will be contributing funds towards CAHB's campaign against Initiative 122. If you're interested in contributing funds (anything helps) please contact Nikki at 970-686-2798. More information is coming on this and I will pass it along as soon as I receive it. Below is a summary, but click here for the full text of the initiative: ALERT: Please Decline to Sign the Initiative 122 Petition Election Day is months away, but the season for ballot initiatives is in full swing. You may be approached by signature gatherers looking for your support of Initiative 122. Please decline to sign this petition. Initiative 122 is a statewide measure that caps growth and housing in the 11 Front Range counties. While the proposal may sound fine on the first reading, the details make this initiative harmful to Colorado.  Initiative 122 would limit the supply of housing, driving up the price of homes and apartments, and placing much of that burden on working families, seniors and Coloradans on fixed incomes. Initiative 122 deceptively includes a slightly higher allowance for affordable housing. But with our region being more than 20,000 affordable units behind, Initiative 122 will make affordable housing near impossible to build. Finally, Initiative 122 will push development into rural counties and cause urban sprawl to replace farmland and open spaces, while making traffic congestion even worse for Coloradans. If you are approached by a petition circulator, remember these concerns and say, "No thank you."
