Advocacy

Advocacy & Government Affairs

Advocacy is a core function of the Northern Colorado Home Builders Association. We work proactively to build and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, jurisdictions, and decision-makers to ensure the voice of the residential construction industry is heard, understood, and respected.

As a NoCo HBA member, you are part of a coordinated advocacy network that operates at the local, state, and national levels. Membership automatically includes affiliation with the Colorado Association of Home Builders (CAHB) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), strengthening our collective influence on issues that directly impact housing, development, and business operations.

Locally, NoCo HBA serves as a consistent, trusted partner to city staff, elected officials, and regulatory bodies. We engage early and often on matters such as code adoption, land use policies, development standards, impact fees, and regulatory changes—working to reduce unintended consequences, prevent overregulation, and support practical, achievable solutions for builders and developers.

Our advocacy efforts include:

  • Building and sustaining relationships with municipal staff, boards, and elected officials

  • Educating policymakers on the real-world impacts of proposed regulations

  • Convening coalitions and industry partners to align positions and strengthen outcomes

  • Mobilizing member input, letters, and testimony when it matters most

At the state and national levels, NoCo HBA members have opportunities to participate in organized lobbying efforts at the Colorado State Capitol and in Washington, D.C., ensuring Northern Colorado’s housing priorities are represented in broader policy discussions.

Advocacy is strongest when members are engaged. If you are interested in participating in Government Affairs efforts or staying informed on local issues impacting your projects and communities, please contact Victoria Hall at victoria@nocohba.com.
